Included/Excluded
Day 1: You've made it! We'll pick you up and whisk you off to your cosy accommodation in Alleppey. Once you've freshened up, we're hitting the water for an evening canal cruise. Keep your eyes peeled for those famous Chinese fishing nets in action – they're proper impressive! Day 2: Rise and shine! We're off on a guided walk through the colonial quarter. You'll feel like you've stepped back in time as we wander past old-world buildings and charming streets. Next stop: Mullakkal Temple. It's a real beauty and a great intro to local beliefs.
Day 3: Pack your bags – we're off to Kuttanad for a proper local experience! You'll be staying in a traditional homestay. It's basic but full of charm. If it's the right season, you might get to try your hand at some paddy field work. Don't worry, we won't make you do anything too strenuous! Day 4: Today's all about food! You'll learn to whip up some tasty Keralan dishes. In the afternoon, we might catch a snake boat race practice. These boats are massive and the teamwork is incredible!
Day 5: We're off to the coir villages today. You'll see how they turn coconut husks into rope and mats. Fancy having a go yourself? We'll stop at a local workshop where you can try weaving. Day 6: Today we're exploring Alumkadavu, famous for building houseboats. In the evening, get ready for a treat – we're watching a Kathakali performance. It's a bit like a play, but with amazing costumes and make-up.
Day 7: All aboard! We're setting off on a two-day houseboat cruise. We'll be exploring the lesser-known canals, so you'll see a side of the backwaters many miss. Day 8: Wake up to the gentle lapping of water against the boat. We'll stop at small islands and chat with local fishermen. You'll learn about the unique ecosystem here and why it's so important to protect it.
Day 9: Start your day with a relaxing yoga session by the backwaters. Then, prepare to be pampered with a traditional Ayurvedic massage. In the afternoon, we'll hit the local markets. It's a great chance to pick up some spices or handicrafts to take home. Day 10: Time to say goodbye! We'll take you to Cochin International Airport for your flight home. Don't forget to swap details with your new friends!
