As you take off from London, get ready for the adventure that awaits! You'll land in Mumbai, where the air is thick with the scent of spices and the buzz of millions of people. Don't worry about finding your way - our friendly guide will be there to greet you with a warm smile. Once you've freshened up, we'll hit the ground running with a tour of Mumbai's highlights. Stand in awe of the majestic Gateway of India, a colossal arch overlooking the Arabian Sea. As the sun sets, we'll take a leisurely stroll along Marine Drive, fondly known as the 'Queen's Necklace' for its glittering nighttime views. Keep an eye out for couples stealing romantic moments and families enjoying picnics by the sea.
Wave goodbye to Mumbai as we fly to Udaipur, the jewel of Rajasthan. This city of lakes and palaces will take your breath away. We'll start with a visit to the City Palace, a massive complex that will make you feel like royalty. Don't forget to peek out of the intricate jharokha windows for stunning lake views! Speaking of lakes, no trip to Udaipur is complete without a boat ride on Lake Pichola. As you glide across the calm waters, you'll see why this city is often called the 'Venice of the East'. We'll also explore the Jagdish Temple, where the air is filled with the sound of bells and chanting, and the Saheliyon Ki Bari gardens, once a retreat for royal ladies. Keep an eye out for the playful elephant-shaped fountains!
Get ready for a change of pace as we drive to Ranakpur. Here, you'll visit a Jain Temple so intricate it'll make your head spin - 1,444 uniquely carved pillars, can you believe it? Try to find two that are exactly alike; legend has it, it's impossible! Next, we're off to Deogarh, where you'll stay in a heritage hotel that'll make you feel like a maharaja. This is your chance to experience rural Rajasthan. We'll take village walks where you can chat with locals and maybe even try your hand at pottery. Fancy a bit of adventure? Our jeep safaris will take you through the rugged countryside. Keep your eyes peeled for peacocks and other wildlife!
Prepare to be awestruck as we arrive in Jodhpur. The mighty Mehrangarh Fort looms over the city, and trust me, it's even more impressive up close. As we explore the fort, imagine the battles and celebrations these walls have witnessed over the centuries. Down in the old city, you'll discover why Jodhpur is called the 'Blue City'. Wander through the maze-like streets, where houses are painted a vivid blue. It's said this colour keeps the buildings cool and repels insects - clever, eh? We'll also visit Jaswant Thada, a gleaming white memorial that's so delicate it almost seems to glow in the sunlight. Don't forget to flex your haggling muscles in Jodhpur's vibrant markets. Whether you're after spices, textiles, or trinkets, you're sure to find a treasure to take home.
Today we're off to Bikaner, a desert city with a fascinating history. We'll explore Junagarh Fort, an undefeated fortress that's stood strong for over 500 years. Marvel at the intricate carvings and lavish interiors - each room tells a story of luxury and intrigue. Now, brace yourself for something truly unique - the Karni Mata Temple, better known as the Rat Temple. Yes, you read that right! Thousands of rats scurry about this temple, considered sacred by devotees. It's not for the faint-hearted, but it's an experience you won't forget in a hurry!
Get ready to be dazzled by Jaipur, the 'Pink City'. We'll start with a visit to Amber Fort, perched high on a hill. If you're feeling adventurous, you can ride an elephant up to the fort - just like the royals used to! In the city, we'll explore the City Palace, where Jaipur's royal family still resides, and the Hawa Mahal, a palace of wind with countless windows and balconies. Don't miss the chance to see the world's largest stone sundial at Jantar Mantar - it's so accurate you could set your watch by it! Jaipur is a shopper's paradise, so we'll make sure you have time to explore the local bazaars. From colourful textiles to dazzling jewellery, you'll be spoilt for choice. And of course, no visit to Jaipur is complete without trying some mouthwatering Rajasthani cuisine. Get ready for a explosion of flavours!
Now for some wild adventure! We're heading to Ranthambore National Park, one of the best places in India to spot tigers in the wild. We'll go on morning and afternoon safari drives, bumping along dusty tracks in search of these majestic creatures. Keep your camera ready - you never know when a tiger might appear! But it's not all about tigers. Ranthambore is home to a wealth of wildlife, from playful langur monkeys to graceful sambar deer. For bird enthusiasts, the park is a paradise with over 300 species. We'll also take some leisurely nature walks, where you can soak in the peaceful atmosphere of the jungle.
As we drive to Agra, we'll stop at Fatehpur Sikri, a mysterious abandoned city. Walking through its empty palaces and courtyards, you can almost hear the echoes of the past. Why was this magnificent city abandoned just 14 years after it was built? Our guide will share the intriguing theories. In Agra, we've saved the best for last. As the sun sets, we'll have our first glimpse of the Taj Mahal. Watch as the fading light paints the white marble in shades of pink and gold. It's a sight that will stay with you forever.
Rise and shine early for a morning visit to the Taj Mahal. In the soft morning light, you'll see why this monument of love is considered one of the wonders of the world. Take your time to explore, and don't forget to ask our guide about the romantic (and sometimes tragic) stories behind this marble masterpiece. Then it's off to Delhi, India's capital and a city where ancient and modern India collide. We'll explore the narrow lanes of Old Delhi, where you can smell spices and hear the calls of street vendors. In New Delhi, we'll see the grand colonial architecture left by the British. As your amazing journey comes to an end, you'll head to the airport with a heart full of memories and a camera full of photos. But don't be sad - we have a feeling you'll be back soon. India has a way of calling you back!
