Arrive in Ahmedabad Welcome to Gujarat! After you arrive at the airport, we'll take you to your hotel so you can freshen up. In the evening, we'll go for a lovely walk in the old city. You'll see beautiful old houses with intricate wooden carvings and learn about the history of this amazing place.
Ahmedabad Today, we'll visit some of Ahmedabad's most famous buildings. First, we'll see the Sidi Saiyyed Mosque, known for its stunning stone lattice windows. Then, we'll explore the grand Jama Masjid and the historic Teen Darwaza gate. In the afternoon, we'll visit Sarkhej Roza, a beautiful tomb complex. We'll end our day at Adalaj Stepwell, an incredible five-storey deep well with intricate carvings.
Ahmedabad Get ready to see some modern architecture today! We'll visit the Indian Institute of Management, designed by the famous architect Louis Kahn. Then, we'll explore CEPT University and the Mill Owners' Association Building, both designed by Le Corbusier. In the afternoon, we'll visit Sabarmati Ashram, where Mahatma Gandhi lived for many years. In the evening, we'll watch the beautiful Aarti ceremony by the Sabarmati River.
Ahmedabad to Lothal to Bhavnagar We're hitting the road today! First, we'll drive to Lothal, an ancient city from the Indus Valley Civilization. You'll see the remains of this 4,000-year-old city and learn about its advanced drainage system. Then, we'll continue to Bhavnagar, where we'll visit the beautiful Takhteshwar Temple and enjoy the sunset view.
Bhavnagar to Palitana to Gondal Rise and shine early today! We're going to climb Shatrunjaya Hill in Palitana to see 900 beautiful Jain temples at the top. It's a bit of a trek, but the view is worth it! After lunch, we'll drive to Gondal and visit the Naulakha Palace, filled with interesting antiques and vintage cars.
Gondal to Junagadh Today we're off to Junagadh! We'll explore the massive Uparkot Fort, which has withstood 16 sieges over 1,000 years. Then, we'll visit the beautiful Mahabat Maqbara, a mausoleum with unique spiral staircases wrapped around its minarets. We'll end our day at Adi-Kadi Vav, an ancient step-well with a fascinating legend behind its name.
Junagadh to Gir In the morning, you can choose to climb the 10,000 steps to the top of Girnar Hills, or explore more of Junagadh if you prefer. Then, we'll drive to Gir National Park, home of the Asiatic lion. In the afternoon, we'll go on a thrilling safari to spot these magnificent animals in the wild.
Gir to Diu We're off to the coastal town of Diu today! We'll explore the massive Diu Fort, built by the Portuguese in the 16th century. Then, we'll visit St. Paul's Church, known for its beautiful baroque design. We'll end our day at the Diu Museum, housed in the old St. Thomas Church, to learn about the island's history.
Diu to Bhuj Today is a long drive to Bhuj, but we'll have plenty of stops along the way to stretch our legs and see the changing landscape. When we arrive in Bhuj, we'll take a relaxing walk around Hamirsar Lake and enjoy the sunset.
Bhuj Get ready to explore Bhuj! We'll start at Aina Mahal, a palace with walls covered in mirrors and glittering decorations. Next door is Prag Mahal, a grand palace mixing Indian and Italian Gothic styles. In the afternoon, we'll visit Bhujia Fort for great views over the city. We'll end our day at the beautiful Swaminarayan Temple.
Bhuj to Dholavira Today we're taking a day trip to Dholavira, another important Indus Valley Civilization site. You'll see the remains of this 5,000-year-old city and learn about its advanced water conservation system. It's amazing to think about how advanced these ancient people were!
Bhuj to Champaner We have another long drive today, but it's worth it! We're heading to Champaner, a UNESCO World Heritage site. When we arrive, we'll start exploring this ancient city with its mix of Hindu and Muslim architecture. You'll be amazed by the detailed stone carvings on the buildings.
Champaner to Ahmedabad We'll spend the morning finishing our tour of Champaner. Make sure to visit the beautiful Jami Masjid! Then, we'll drive back to Ahmedabad for your departure. We hope you've had an amazing time exploring Gujarat's architectural wonders!
