Arrive in Ahmedabad Welcome to Gujarat! After you land, we'll whisk you off to your comfy hotel. Once you've freshened up, we're heading to the Swaminarayan Akshardham Temple. This massive complex is a feast for the eyes with its intricate carvings and peaceful gardens. It's the perfect start to your spiritual adventure!
Ahmedabad Rise and shine! Today we're diving into Ahmedabad's rich history. First stop: Sabarmati Ashram, where Mahatma Gandhi lived and worked. You'll feel the peace and simplicity he valued so much. Next, we'll explore the beautiful Sidi Saiyyed Mosque, famous for its stunning latticed windows. Don't miss the Jama Masjid, one of India's most beautiful mosques. As the sun sets, we'll head to the Sabarmati Riverfront for the mesmerising aarti ceremony – a beautiful way to end the day.
Ahmedabad to Palitana (215 km) Pack your comfy shoes – we're off to Palitana! This town is home to Shatrunjaya Hill, a sacred spot for Jains. Together, we'll climb the 3,000 steps to reach the top. Don't worry, we'll take it slow and steady! The view from the top is worth every step, with over 860 ornate marble temples spread across the hilltop. It's like stepping into another world!
Palitana to Somnath (255 km) Today we're heading to the coastal town of Somnath. The star of the show here is the magnificent Somnath Temple, one of the 12 Jyotirlinga shrines of Lord Shiva. We'll explore the temple's rich history and stunning architecture. As night falls, get ready for a treat – a dazzling sound and light show that brings the temple's stories to life!
Somnath to Dwarka (235 km) Off to Dwarka we go! This ancient city is one of Hinduism's four most sacred pilgrimage sites. We'll visit the grand Dwarkadhish Temple, dedicated to Lord Krishna. Later, we'll hop on a boat to Beyt Dwarka island. Legend says this is where Krishna ruled his kingdom. Keep your eyes peeled for dolphins on the boat ride!
Dwarka We'll start the day early to catch the morning aarti at Dwarkadhish Temple – it's a beautiful, peaceful experience. Then we're off to see the Nageshwar Jyotirlinga, one of the 12 Jyotirlinga shrines of Shiva. We'll also visit Gopi Talav, a lake with a fascinating mythological story. In the evening, we'll take a leisurely stroll along Dwarka Beach. It's the perfect spot to watch the sunset and reflect on your journey so far.
Dwarka to Porbandar to Rajkot (285 km) Today's a big day for history buffs! We're heading to Porbandar, the birthplace of Mahatma Gandhi. We'll visit Kirti Mandir, the house where he was born, now transformed into a fascinating museum. Then it's on to Rajkot, where we'll explore Kaba Gandhi No Delo, the house where Gandhi spent much of his childhood. It's amazing to see where such a great man grew up!
Rajkot to Gondal to Junagadh (170 km) Our first stop today is Gondal, where we'll visit a beautiful Swaminarayan Temple. Then we're off to Junagadh, a city with a unique blend of Hindu and Islamic architecture. We'll explore the stunning Mahabat Maqbara, a mausoleum with a mix of Gothic and Islamic styles. We'll end the day at Uparkot Fort, with its fantastic views over the city.
Junagadh to Virpur to Ahmedabad (355 km) As we start heading back towards Ahmedabad, we'll stop at Virpur to visit the Jalaram Bapa Temple. This temple is dedicated to a saint known for his selfless service and miracles. It's a peaceful place to reflect on your journey. Then it's back to Ahmedabad for your final night in Gujarat.
Depart from Ahmedabad Before we say goodbye, we'll squeeze in one last temple visit to the Vaishno Devi Temple. Then it's off to the airport. As you fly home, you'll take with you memories of Gujarat's warm hospitality, rich spirituality, and fascinating history.
