Hello, traveller! Today's the day you arrive in the bustling capital of India, Delhi. Once you land at Delhi International Airport, we'll be there to greet you with a warm smile and whisk you off to your hotel in New Delhi. The rest of the day is all about taking it easy and getting over that jet lag. Why not have a little wander around the hotel area if you're feeling up to it? It's a great way to get your first taste of India!
Rise and shine! We're off to Leh today. After breakfast, we'll head to the airport for a morning flight that'll take your breath away – quite literally! As we touch down in Leh, you'll find yourself at a whopping 3,500 metres above sea level. Your body needs time to adjust to this altitude, so today's plan is simple: rest, relax, and acclimatise. If you're feeling good later, we can take a gentle stroll around Leh market. It's a great spot to people-watch and soak in the local atmosphere.
Good morning! How are you feeling? Today we'll start exploring Leh, but we'll take it nice and easy. First stop is Shanti Stupa, a beautiful white-domed structure offering panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. Next, we'll visit Leh Palace, a miniature version of the Potala Palace in Lhasa. We'll round off our sightseeing at Namgyal Tsemo Monastery, perched high above Leh. The rest of the evening is yours to relax or explore – maybe try some local Ladakhi cuisine?
Today's all about Ladakh's spiritual side. We'll start bright and early at Thiksey Monastery, where you can join the monks for their morning prayer ceremony – it's a truly magical experience. Then we're off to Hemis Monastery, the largest and wealthiest monastery in Ladakh. Our final stop is Shey Palace, once the summer retreat of Ladakh's royal family. By the end of the day, you'll have a deeper understanding of Ladakh's rich Buddhist heritage.
Buckle up for an exciting day! We're driving over Khardung La Pass, one of the highest motorable roads in the world. The views are absolutely stunning – don't forget your camera! Our destination is the beautiful Nubra Valley. Here, we'll visit Diskit Monastery and then... how do you fancy a camel ride? These aren't your usual camels though – they're Bactrian camels with two humps! We'll take a ride on these magnificent creatures through the sand dunes at Hunder.
Another day, another incredible journey! We're heading to Pangong Lake via the Shyok River route. The drive is an adventure in itself, with ever-changing landscapes. But nothing can prepare you for your first glimpse of Pangong Lake. Its waters shift through shades of blue, green, and even red! We'll spend the night near the lake, so you can enjoy this natural wonder at sunset and sunrise.
After a peaceful morning by the lake, it's time to head back to Leh. Our route takes us over Chang La Pass, another high-altitude adventure. Back in Leh, the evening is yours to relax, maybe do some shopping, or just wander around this charming town. How about trying some butter tea? It's a local favourite!
Today we're mixing history with a bit of adventure! We'll start at Alchi Monastery, known for its stunning murals. Then it's on to Basgo Fort, a 500-year-old marvel perched dramatically on a hill. Feeling adventurous? We can arrange an optional river rafting trip on the Zanskar River. It's a thrilling ride through spectacular gorges – are you up for it?
Time to say goodbye to the mountains as we fly back to Delhi this morning. But the adventure isn't over yet! This afternoon, we'll explore some of Delhi's most famous sights. We'll visit the impressive Red Fort, the beautiful Jama Masjid mosque, and take a rickshaw ride through the bustling lanes of Chandni Chowk. It's a great way to experience the energy of India's capital!
On your last day, we'll visit two of Delhi's UNESCO World Heritage Sites. First up is Qutub Minar, a soaring minaret built in the 12th century. Then we'll explore Humayun's Tomb, a beautiful example of Mughal architecture that inspired the Taj Mahal. In the afternoon, we'll take you to the airport for your flight home. We hope you've had an amazing time exploring Ladakh and Delhi with us!
