Today's the big day! You'll be jetting off from London Heathrow to Delhi. It's a long flight, so make sure you've got some good books or films to keep you entertained. Try to get some shut-eye too – you've got an exciting day ahead tomorrow!
Rise and shine! You'll land in Delhi and hop on a quick domestic flight to Srinagar, the summer capital of Kashmir. As soon as you touch down, you'll feel the cool mountain air – what a refreshing change! We'll whisk you off to your home for the night: a fabulous luxury houseboat on Dal Lake. These houseboats are like floating palaces, with beautiful carved wood and comfy furnishings. In the evening, we've got a treat for you. You'll go for a ride on a shikara, a kind of wooden boat that's a bit like a Kashmiri gondola. As the sun sets, you'll glide across the lake, taking in the twinkling lights of the shoreline. It's pure magic!
After a yummy breakfast on your houseboat, we're off to explore Srinagar. First up are the famous Mughal Gardens. These aren't your average parks – they're absolutely gorgeous! We'll visit three: Nishat, Shalimar, and Chashme Shahi. Each one has terraced lawns, fountains, and flowers galore. The views over Dal Lake are pretty special too. In the afternoon, we'll take a walk through Srinagar's Old City. It's like stepping back in time! You'll see beautiful old wooden houses, busy markets, and ancient mosques. Keep your camera handy – there are photo opportunities around every corner!
Today we're heading to Gulmarg, a place that's beautiful in every season. In winter, it's a skier's paradise, but in summer, it's all about the views and the wildflowers. The highlight of the day is the gondola ride up to Kongdoori. As you climb higher and higher, you'll see the whole valley spread out below you – it's breathtaking! Once you're at the top, you've got options. If you're feeling sporty, you can have a go at golf on one of the world's highest golf courses. Or, if you prefer, take a gentle nature walk and breathe in that fresh mountain air. Either way, you're in for a treat!
We're on the move again today, driving to Pahalgam. But don't worry, the journey's part of the fun! On the way, we'll stop at the Awantipora ruins. These ancient temples are over a thousand years old and full of fascinating carvings. When we get to Pahalgam, you'll have the evening to yourself. This little town is nestled in the Lidder Valley, surrounded by pine forests and snow-capped peaks. Take a stroll along the river, breathe in that pine-scented air, and relax – you're in one of the most beautiful spots in Kashmir!
Hope you're feeling energetic today, because we're off on a trek! We'll head to Betaab Valley, a place so pretty it's been used as a backdrop in loads of Bollywood films. The trek isn't too tough, and the views are worth every step. In the afternoon, we'll visit Aru Valley. This meadow is a bit of a hidden gem – it's less crowded than some spots, but just as beautiful. Keep your eyes peeled for rare Himalayan birds and maybe even a musk deer!
We're heading back to Srinagar today, but not before squeezing in a couple more sights! First up is Pari Mahal, or the 'Fairy Palace'. This old royal observatory has gorgeous terraced gardens and great views over the city. Then, we'll hit the local markets. Whether you're after traditional Kashmiri handicrafts, spices, or just want to soak up the atmosphere, it's a great place to spend the afternoon. Don't forget to practice your haggling skills!
Today we're off to Sonamarg, which means 'Meadow of Gold'. When you see the way the light hits the meadows, you'll understand why! The big draw here is the Thajiwas Glacier. It's a bit of a climb to get there, but don't worry – if you're not feeling up to the walk, you can hire a pony to take you up. Standing at the foot of the glacier, surrounded by towering peaks, you'll feel like you're on top of the world. It's a view you won't forget in a hurry!
We're making the most of your last full day in Kashmir! We'll start early with a shikara ride to the floating vegetable market on Dal Lake. It's a feast for the senses – the colours, the sounds, the smells of fresh produce and flowers. This is the real, everyday Kashmir that not every tourist gets to see. The afternoon is yours to spend as you like. Maybe do some last-minute shopping, or just relax by the lake and soak it all in. Why not treat yourself to a final Kashmiri feast for dinner?
All good things must come to an end, and sadly, it's time to say goodbye to Kashmir. We'll get you to the airport for your flight back to Delhi, where you'll connect to your London flight. As you wing your way home, you'll have a head and heart full of wonderful memories. Kashmir really is a special place – we bet you'll be planning your next trip back before you even land!
